RAPTOR: 10.9 kW of fold-out solar and 90 kWh of storage you can put anywhere
RAPTOR, Rapid Autonomous Power To Outback Regions, is Thomson Energy's transportable off-grid power unit. A 10.9 kW Winaico solar array folds out under electric and hydraulic power from a base you can truck, crane or tow into position, feeding a Sigenergy inverter and 90 kWh of Sigenergy battery storage with up to 60 kW of output. Place it, deploy it, and it's making and storing power the same day, with no grid, no slab and no generator droning in the background. Designed and built at our workshop at Fernvale near Murwillumbah, NSW.

RAPTOR stands for Rapid Autonomous Power To Outback Regions. It's a complete off-grid solar and battery system engineered onto a single transportable base. The array is stowed flat for transport and folds out on site using electric and hydraulic motors, so there's no panel-by-panel assembly and no crew on a roof. Underneath sits a Sigenergy inverter and battery stack, 90 kWh of lithium iron phosphate storage, with the switchboard, protection, outlets and monitoring already wired and commissioned before the unit leaves our workshop.
| Spec | RAPTOR |
|---|---|
| Solar array | 10.9 kW Winaico panels, fold-out, electric and hydraulic deployment |
| Battery storage | 90 kWh Sigenergy lithium iron phosphate |
| Inverter | Sigenergy, up to 60 kW output |
| Grid | None needed, fully off-grid |
| Base options | Steel base with feet, concrete skid base, or trailer base |
| Transport | Truck or tilt tray with crane or forklift placement, or towed on the trailer base |
| Setup | Same day: position, deploy the array, connect loads |

Three bases, one system
- Steel base with feet for sites where the unit will be craned or forked into place and left for a season or longer.
- Concrete skid base for a semi-permanent installation that needs ballast against wind and no footings.
- Trailer base for power that moves with the job: tow it in, fold it out, tow it to the next site.
Where it fits
- Farms and rural properties: pumps, sheds, cool rooms and worker accommodation a long way from the nearest pole.
- Construction and civil sites: site sheds, lighting and tools without a generator running all day, then move it to the next job.
- Events and festivals: quiet, clean power for stages, bars and vendors through the Northern Rivers' festival season.
- Mining, exploration and remote camps: we've engineered off-grid systems for the Pilbara, and RAPTOR is built to the same standard.
- Emergency and resilience: a power source that can be positioned where it's needed after floods or storms, which this region knows about.
- Trial before you commit: run a property on RAPTOR for a season before deciding on a permanent off-grid system.
Why a skid instead of a generator
A diesel generator on a remote site costs money every hour it runs, needs fuel delivered, needs servicing, and is loud. RAPTOR runs silent on sunshine, stores 90 kWh for night and cloudy days, and can push up to 60 kW when a big load starts. On a site that would otherwise run a generator for months it typically pays for itself in fuel alone, and when the site is finished you fold it up and take it to the next one.
Built here, supported here
Every RAPTOR is built, tested and commissioned by Thomson Energy's licensed electricians at Fernvale in the Tweed Valley, and monitored remotely so we can see what it's doing wherever it's parked. We deliver across NSW and Queensland and have shipped off-grid systems to Western Australia. Need more storage or a different array? We can build to a specification for larger loads or a particular site.
